Well for the August long weekend Jason let me know he was making time for a family camp out for three days! I/we were ecstatic !! We decided for the first time in 13 years that we would actually camp at a provincial park. We've always been outback campers but we decided we wanted to make this trip as painless and perfect as possible so we went to Whiskers Bay Provinical Park just 130km North of here.
It was glorious. Jason and I both got out on the kayak daily and even gave Francis a touch of the kayaking experience.
The weather couldn't have been any nicer.
There was a nice large beach to hang out at everyday....which we did.
Plus we were able to plan to have Lance, Bonita and Family come too. So the cousins got a lot of together time which we all love to see.
Since we were just across the road from each other we were able to have little visitors come for a chit chat and play in their own unique way.
Francis in her typical fashion gave hugs and kisses everytime she had a chance.
We did the same as before and just cleared out Jason's tool trailer for accomodations which again worked brilliantly. Cosy and little cleaning to do! Just my perfect camping trip.
Then when we needed the fancy lights, hot water, or all the bling we just headed out across the street. Our buddies Crystal, Mark and family also made it out and were fortunate enough to get a site right on the water.
So being a water kid at heart I was always first to get the gear down to the beach and that's where we all collaborated throughout the day.
The kids had a blast.
Just being kids.
Crystal and the kidlets even entertained me one day as I was determined to sit through a rain shower which sadly turned into a torrential down pour! Good for a laugh (after the fact )
Since Alistair was obviously enjoying himself so we decided to stay one more night after knowing that our friends were going to too. So in the end we all stayed an extra night on a whim.
The girls had such a blast in the trolley.
....and Francis just loved being near her big cousins!
Both kids loved watching the fire every morning over breakfast.
The neat thing for Francis is she was able to always find someone to play with.
She loved it so much that we had to watch her as she'd take off down the road to her buddies campsite to play. I couldn't believe the distance she would travel by foot but when the destination is so fun why not!
Love this candid shot!
The great part about this place is there was always shade to find to get out of the scorching heat.
And the other option was just to jump right in the lake on your floaty.
Or sit right in the water with your Dad.
Jason slowly inched his way down into the water to get Alistair accustomed to the feeling. This was about as far as he would go but he still seemed somewhat interested in it all.
It was also good for Jason to have a brain break and hang out with his kidlets and wifey.
Working six to seven days a week eventually forces one to slow down for some brain break time which it totally was.
Well it was an absolutely lovely uncomplicated trip so close to home. Francis could entertain herself with just about anything, Alistair was calm and at ease and us parents were chillaxed. What more could one ask for!
So now wish us luck. I'm going to pack some last odds and sods and then throw the kidlets in the van. Off to the ranches North of Ft St John we go for one last hurrah. Its a good five hours if I'm on my own so hopefully we get in in the early evening. I'm sure I"ll have some fun pics to share. Till then toodaalooo. :D
